Hi! I'm Amanda, sole owner and operator of Amanda's Pet Care, Arlington's premier dog walking and pet sitting service.
First off, thank you so much for checking out my dog walking and pet sitting business! As a pet owner myself, I understand how important it is to find a good quality pet care service that you can trust with your furry family members. Do you know that saying about how doctors make the worst patients? That's true about pet professionals too. When my husband, Steven and I adopted our lab/hound mix, Zuma in 2009, the thought of trusting his care to someone else terrified me. But after visiting a few local dog daycares, we found Dogtopia of Alexandria and they completely put my mind at ease. Now, I know some of you are probably thinking, but I'm a pet sitter, why would I send my dog to dog daycare? Well, Zuma is extremely social and he loves being around people and other dogs and just wouldn't be happy home alone all day with a pet sitter visiting a few times. I'm sharing this story with you because I want you to be happy with my services, but more than that, I want your pet to be happy. And if your pet isn't a good fit for my services, that's ok with me.
I'm committed to providing the absolute best care for your pets, just as you would. After all, you are trusting me with probably two of the most important things in your life - your pet and your home. I work closely with all of my clients to make sure I stay informed of your pet's care and any changes to their routines. My clients value the reliable and personalized care that I provide as a individual pet care provider. I treat and care for all of my client's pets as if they were my own. That is my commitment to you.
Before living in Arlington, I grew up in the Boston area. I've always had a love for all animals. When I was a kid, I wanted to be a marine mammal trainer or marine biologist when I grew up. Pets and animals are my passion and I think that's reflected in the service I provide. I didn't come into the pet care industry after getting bored at my corporate job. Pets are my life.

Barney Bush in 2004...hopefully I'll get to meet Bo & Sunny someday too!
Prior to Amanda's Pet Care, I've worked at Zoo New England, the New England Aquarium, and Boston Pet Sitters. While working at Zoo New England and the New England Aquarium, I gained experience working with many different types of animals such as goats, black bears, sea urchins, and sea stars (starfish). At Boston Pet Sitters, I gained my first professional experience working with pets and I loved every minute of it. Whether it was 100 degrees outside, 40 below with the wind chill, raining or snowing, I was happy as could be because I truly enjoyed what I was doing, making a difference in the lives of the pets in my care. My experiences at Zoo New England, the New England Aquarium, and Boston Pet Sitters greatly reinforced my desire to continue a career in the animal care field.
When I moved to Arlington in 2004, I got several job offers from established pet care companies in the area but I had a vision for the type of pet care service I wanted to provide and none of them met that need. So after many months of hard work and dedication, I started a pet care company of my own. And that of course is Amanda's Pet Care.
Amanda's Pet Care celebrates it's 10 year anniversary in 2014. According to my service reports, I've walked an estimated 7,690 miles in the last 10 years... that's enough to have walked from Washington, DC to Juneau, AK and BACK plus take a couple detours along the way! I've also opened an estimated 3,490 cans of cat food... thank goodness almost all of my clients recycle!
When I don't have my hands full of leashes and litter boxes, I enjoy knitting, cooking, reading, brunch with friends, and local outings with my husband, Steven and our dog, Zuma.
I hope you will choose Amanda's Pet Care for your dog walking or pet sitting needs. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at anytime.
Thanks again for visiting my site!
